On Friday, April 26, 2019, the 33rd meeting of the WAPP Technical and Financial Partners (TFPs) was held at the Golden Tulip le Diplomate Hotel in Cotonou, Benin. This gathering’s purpose is to check in on the progress made with the TFPs support for development but also to agree on actions to accelerate the implementation of current and future WAPP projects.
The Benin Energy Minister, Mr. Jean-Claude Houssou, presided over the opening ceremony and the meeting was chaired by the Chairman of the WAPP Executive Board, Mr. Usman Gur Mohammed.
The Secretary General of the WAPP did a working visit between February to April 2019 to IDB Jeddah, BAD Abidjan, AFD Paris, EIB Luxembourg, KfW Frankfurt, World Bank Washington, and EBID Lomé.
The 41st WAPP Executive Board meeting chaired by its Chairman Mr. Usman Gur Mohammed, was held on Saturday, 27th April 2019 at the Golden Tulip le Diplomat Hotel in Cotonou, Benin.

Within the framework of the statutory meeting of the West African Power Pool (WAPP), the 33rd WAPP Donors Coordination Meeting is scheduled to take place on April 26, 2019 in Cotonou, Republic of Benin.
The new ECOWAS Master Plan for regional power generation and transmission infrastructure was presented on 7 February 2019 by the Secretary General of the West African Power Pool (WAPP), Mr. Siengui Apollinaire Ki, to Ambassador Oliver Nette, Head of the European Union Delegation in Benin.
A tool for planning the implementation of ECOWAS regional power generation and transmission infrastructure, this new Master Plan, which covers the period 2019-2033, is an update of the previous plan, which covered the period 2012-2025.
On March 1, 2019, the WAPP General Secretariat hosted a working visit from the MCC delegation, led by the National Coordinator of MCA Benin, Mr. Gabriel Dégbéni. During the meeting, the WAPP General Secretariat presented the new Master Plan 2019 - 2033 adopted by ECOWAS Heads of State last December and the MCC presented its new product, the "Regional Compact", which allows it to finance projects of regional interest.
On 6th of November 2018, the 6th Coordination Meeting of ECOWAS Energy Agencies and Institutions was held at the premises of the WAPP General Secretariat in Cotonou (Benin). It is a framework for exchanges and guidance for the revitalization of regional programmes in the energy sector.
In addition to the ECOWAS Department of Energy and Mines, the meeting brought together the following entities: ARREC, AGAO, ECREEE and WAPP.
During the meeting, each entity presented the activities already carried out or to be carried out in 2018 and those planned for 2019.
The 13th WAPP General Assembly, under the theme "Capacity Building: Key Pillar for Electricity Market Sustenance”, was held on November 09, 2018 in Cotonou, Benin. In the margins of this General Assembly, preparatory meetings were held throughout the week of November 05 to 08, 2018.
