On Monday, June 14, 2021, the WAPP Secretariat received on a working visit a delegation of SUNON ASOGLI Power ltd headed by its Chairman and Managing Director, Chief Togbe Afede XIV.
The visit started with a working meeting between the two parties held at the WAPP secretariat.
As part of events to mark the Europe Day, a delegation of Ambassadors led by EU Ambassador Sylvia Hartleif paid a site visit to the WAPP ICC project construction on Thursday, May 6, 2021.
On June 16, 2021, the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the governments of Burkina Faso and Côte d'Ivoire as part of its new regional energy interconnection program to strengthen electricity market integration between the two countries and the West African energy sector.
The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH has over the years been providing technical and financial support to WAPP, ECREEE, ERERA and the Energy & Mines department of the ECOWAS Commission within the framework of the Regional Program for the promotion of a climate-friendly electricity market in the ECOWAS region (PROCEM) and the project for improving the governance of renewable energy sector and energy efficiency in West Africa (AGOSEREE-AO).
On Friday, April 26, 2019, the 33rd meeting of the WAPP Technical and Financial Partners (TFPs) was held at the Golden Tulip le Diplomate Hotel in Cotonou, Benin. This gathering’s purpose is to check in on the progress made with the TFPs support for development but also to agree on actions to accelerate the implementation of current and future WAPP projects.
The Benin Energy Minister, Mr. Jean-Claude Houssou, presided over the opening ceremony and the meeting was chaired by the Chairman of the WAPP Executive Board, Mr. Usman Gur Mohammed.
